Caregivers are individuals who are qualified to care independently for children, the elderly or people who have disabilities.

There is a shortage of Canadians who are available to work as live-in caregivers. In order to keep up with such demand a live-in Caregiver Program was developed to bring qualified foreign individuals who are available to work on a live-in basis.

If you want to gain Canadian work experience, upgrade your skills to the Canadian standards and have the time of your life in Canada , you are more than welcome to join the program. If you have experience as a caregiver or have background in education, medicine and health care, then you are the ideal candidate that we are seeking. There is also the possibility of applying for Permanent Residence in Canada after completing at least two (2) years of work here.

Through the program you will become a member of a Canadian family for at least one year and will be paid a salary as a Caregiver. The host family, which is your employer, will pay you no less than the minimum wage set by the province in which you are working.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR LIVE-IN CAREGIVER PROGRAM

The Live-in Caregiver Program allows professional caregivers to work in Canada . Caregivers are individuals who are qualified to work without supervision in a private household providing care for children, elderly persons or people who have disabilities. The live-in caregiver must live in the employer's home.

There are three main requirements you must meet to qualify under the Live-in Caregiver Program:

1) You must have successfully completed the equivalent of a Canadian high school education. This requirement will help to ensure that if you apply for permanent residence after two years as a live-in caregiver, you will be able to succeed in the general labour market. Studies indicate that the majority of new jobs in Canada require at least a high school education.

2) You must have six months of full-time training in a classroom setting or twelve months of full-time paid employment, including at least six months of continuous employment with one employer in a field or occupation related to the job you are seeking as a live-in caregiver. You may have gained your training or experience in areas such as early childhood education, geriatric care, pediatric nursing or first aid. You may also have completed your training as part of your formal education. This experience must have been obtained within the three years immediately prior to the day on which you submit an application for a work permit.

3) You must be able to speak, read and understand either English or French at a level that allows you to function independently in a home setting. For example, you must be able to contact emergency services if required and to understand labels on medication. You will be unsupervised for most of the day and may be required to communicate with someone outside the home. A good knowledge of English or French will also enable you to read and understand your rights and obligations.

GUARANTEE

We guarantee the success of our search process. However, in the unlikely event that the employer cancels their application or is denied and not permitted to hire a caregiver, Global Services Agency will immediately resume a new search for an employer on behalf of the caregiver for a period of 12 months from the date of cancellation/refusal.

The caregiver has the option of canceling their registration with Global Services Agency, after receiving notification of the cancellation/refusal, and will not be required to pay the final installment. This decision must be submitted in writing within 30 days of employer's cancellation or denial by their government. This guarantee becomes null and void after this date.

If you are interested in applying for a position as a caregiver with our agency, you can download the form here (Microsoft Word is required to open application)

Important Notice: You must be aware that placement is not guaranteed for all applicants. The Canadian employers usually pick the best international caregivers, who are able to prove extensive care giving experience, have excellent work references, good English skills and can adapt fairly quickly to the Canadian setting.
